Preschool

This Fall Jack started Preschool with Mrs. Hammer. It is just around the corner from our house with a nice lady in our ward. That is nice because I feel I can trust her and Jack knows some of the other kids in his class of 10 kids. He goes tues and thurs from 9-11. He has done pretty well from the start. He has only cried about going maybe 2 times. I am trying to get him to be more independent and confident so I drop him off and make him walk himself to the garage door and into the house (of course I always sneak when he isnt watching to make sure he made it all the way down the stairs to the school room, but that’s our little secret). For about the first month his teacher said he was SUPER shy and wouldn’t talk but finally he is making progress and will talk to his teacher. I can’t believe how big he is getting. He loves going now and asks daily if we are going. They are learning letters, doing worksheets, making crafts, practicing writing their names… It has been great for him and I love his enthusiasm.

One of his creations at school a cowboy vest. With mom’s boots to complete the look. Later I asked him if he wanted to wear his cowboy vest and he said “NO MOM, we don’t have HORSES!”

Helmet Mania

Suzie requested and Patty for many months now Winking smile that I post of the latest and greatest happenings.. This summer we endured the dreaded HELMET! Luke’s head was flat on the right back, they were concerned about his soft spot because it was so small. But thankfully it was still open so no surgery necessary. It worked nicely and we had it on all summer. Now that was a bummer. We had to be careful not to be in the sunshine so we didn’t roast his noggin. Also you can’t put on any lotion or anything on his head so no sunscreen. He did pretty well with it. I missed being able to kiss his sweet head and smell that sweet baby scent. Because with all that sweat his head ended up smelling like a foot. And it wasn’t till the last few weeks that he figured out how to take it off.  I have some cute pictures of the lake with his helmet and man sized fisherman hat I made him wear. Isn’t it great to know they can fix stuff like this so easily?

Dan’s Irresistable charm

Halloween

oct 2012 008

Running to the car from a FUN Halloween party at preschool. (Mrs. Hammer in the back)

oct 2012 006

My little Ghost! BOO! He originally wanted to be a cowboy, but a few days before the big day he changed to a ghost. I LOVE DIY costumes. Seriously I bought a can of hair spray paint for $2, and a yard of clearance see through fabric for $2.50 and cut it to fit! I had him put on his Halloween pj bottoms and a white shirt. We did originally have face paint but it wouldn’t dry and jack said “its really bugging me mom” so we wiped it off. He got a lot of compliments on his costume (tooting my horn..toot toot).

Here is my Luke boy. An what a great MONKEY he made! Funny note Kara was telling me that my kids costumes are so appropriate… I was confused like appropriate?? What do you mean? like modest? I don’t get it…. Kara’s like DUH! Jack is quiet as a ghost and well Luke… is a monkey!  And about a day later Grandpa Miller said the same thing. Made me laugh.

We got to go trunk or treating with our cousins. Jack  loves playing with Gavin, they always have a lot of fun.

oct 2012 013

from L to R.

Babies Lydia and Abigail (can’t remember which is the flower and which is the Bee) Scott, Gavin, Natalie, Rebecca, Dan, Luke and Jack! It was fun but the set up of the trunk or treat was REALLY WEIRD! They said it started at 6 but they were doing like a costume contest then dougnuts and hot cocoa (do we really need the added sugar??) then forever later finally the trunk or treat. Next year I think I will try to organize a normal  trunk or treat for the neighborhood. Come and Six do your thing and be done! All in all it was a fun time.

We also carved pumpkins while dad had EQ visits. And Luke was sleeping. I am a terrible mom and didn’t let Luke participate, trying to contain the mess and all….. Every night we had to light our pumpkins. It was so fun the night we carved it had snowed and snowed. When we were done we put them on the steps and lit them and we had a snowball fight. Jack thought that was special, in fact he said about the evening, “Mom its really magical, huh?” Year, darling pumpkin it is!

FHE

Tonight during Family Home Evening we were looking at a picture of the temple and I was telling Jack that we go to the temple and make covenants with Heavenly Father. To this Jack replies "Ya and go to the church and make copies." (for the bulletin). It is sort of hilarious what goes through their minds.

Geneajagy

(Jack and Luke playing in their room)
Me: Jack its time to get ready for bed.
Jack: Not yet mom, go do Geneajagy.
Me: You want me to go do some genealogy?
Jack: Ya, geneajagy. Me, Luke stay in my house and play.

...... Got to hand it to the kid he does know how to tempt me to leave them to play..... and I love that at 3 he knows Mommy and Grandma are Geneajagy addicts and that I can teach him how important it is by our examples.

My Purse..

Today we had some time to spare inbetween errands so we stopped at Seagull Book to grab Jack a scripture case so he can take his Book of Mormon to sunbeams, since he is such a big guy now. So we found a good orange one we like ($1.99, not bad at all). So we are walking around looking at stuff and he keeps asking "mom, my purse? for me?" "no jack its a scripture bag for church"... a few minutes later "this my orange purse" .... the old ladies in the store sure found it ammusing. We have since discussed the finer points of girls and purses and boys and briefcases and scripture bags.

Sunbeam

Today was the big day for Jack. He is now a Sunbeam. I stayed with him in sharing time and he did fine. We walked to his class and I left him and he SCREAMED for a good 5-10 minutes. Then just snuggled his awesome teacher Katie Johnson (thanks Katie for being so wonderful), and apparently looked at her like he loathed her, then passed out. BUT he did it! It will be interesting to see how next week goes.... It may be a few weeks of misery for Katie and Jack.
{Jack: It's okay Luke, just chill out.}

Liahona

Dad: That is Nephi, and this is his dad Lehi.
Jack: Ya look!
Tiana: You see that pretty gold ball, thats a Liahona. If you are righteous and do whats rights it will tell you where to go, kind of like the Holy Ghost does.
Jack: Ya for the Christmas Tree?

Thursday, January 5, 2012

We were reading scriptures tonight and it was one of those nights where the baby is screaming the little boy can't pay attention and the parents are tired, so we read 2 verses. Then Jack wants to look at the scriptures after. So he sits on the couch opens the Book of Mormon:

"Chapy (chapter) nine, Came to pass."

Love this kid.

Cruisin'

Luke is SOOO close to rolling over. Jack is very concerned and prone to helping Luke stay put. Jack got to play the Wii for the very first time today at Grandma's house, he was so excited and had so much fun sitting in the little lawn chair playing mario cart, and it only took him 12 minutes to make one lap!

Don't eat that Cafe Rio!

Also on a side note I have lost 15 pounds since my 6 week checkup in November. *pat on the back*

Christmas

We really enjoyed Christmas time this year. We tried to emphasize to Jack that Christmas is Jesus's Birthday. Jack was also "escited" to know that Santa would be stopping by his house. Christmas morning he comes and and just stares at the tree for a minute with no expression, then he looks over at me and asks "Santa?"
Earlier in the season I took Jack to Cal-Ranch to pick out what kind of tractor he would like for Christmas. We looked at tractors with lights, and buttons, and sounds, and trailors, and moving wheels, and big tractors. I thought we had picked a pretty good one out with lights and sounds and a trailor and it was pretty big. As we are leaving the aisle he sees this old Model G tractor. "No MOM!! A GRANDPA TRACTOR!!" It was love at first sight, he wanted a tractor just like Grandpa Miller drives. Not huge, no lights, no sounds, no bells and whistles.... just like Grandpa. And he couldn't be any happier with it!

December Continued...

Funny little Luke.

The hat was another attempt to get the scratching to stop.

Dan has been doing the electrical in the basement. Jack asks Dan "dad, make a basement?"

Jack and Ellie

I just think these two are the sweetest cousins ever created.
